“Honey, they’re just incredible, so beautiful yet so powerful,” Alexa said, undoing her seatbelt to get a better view.

Takes one to know one, David, thought.  Life changing destruction in a beautiful package.  He couldn’t take it anymore.  As the helicopter banked right, he opened the door and pushed her out.

Thanks. I don’t think she’d be laughing though!

  1. Wow … I wrote two, but you managed to get more thrills and spills in half the space! You certainly captured the package that was Alexa. One small point … obviously, she is attractive (and destructive), but with so few words, I am not sure I would have used “beautiful” twice. Perhaps a synonym in the second usage, one to suggest (or connote) other qualities besides beauty: alluring, arresting, bewitching, or beguiling all come to mind. Thanks for visiting my site at http://scottcheck.blogspot.com/2012/06/desolation.html

Oooo, good point. I think I’ll go back and make a change. I can’t believe I didn’t even notice. Thanks.

    • Janet said:

Thank you. I was hoping it would be shocking.

  2. Wow! Hate it when that happens. I kind of expected something nasty given the title of the piece but it was still nicely done.

    • Janet said:

Thank you. I had touble picking a title. Glad I didn’t give it away too much.

You corner the market on surprise endings. M. Night Shyamalan, watch out!

    • Janet said:

Thank you. It was really fun to do that.

Sometimes opportunity knocks (and you just have to open the door).

Thank you. Hope things went well on Friday night.

That’s just the reaction I was going for!

Think she thought so too! All the way down.

    • Janet said:

I know, not my usual style but I couldn’t resist.

I don’t normally go for those shocking endings but it came to me and I couldn’t resist. Be over to read your soon.

A great way to get rid of excess baggage

what did it mean: takes one to know one? not sure why he thought that.

    • Janet said:

I wanted to show that while the volcano was beautiful on the outside it was a destructive force and explosive on the inside. Like his wife.

      • rich said:

i see that parallel, so i must have just overlooked where she said it first.

  7. Lol, I was horrified, but I chuckled after she was pushed. I’m assuming her husband did as well! What an ending! Great little story!

    • Janet said:

      I’m sure he certainly did.

  8. Stacey said:

LOL. Short and not-so-sweet. Abrupt enough to be funny. Good job.

    • Janet said:

I think she pushed him too far (ha ha).

  9. Linda said:

Wow, I didn’t see that one coming at all – great ending and twist I now want more ……….. please 🙂

  10. She calls him ‘Honey’ and gets kicked out? You got me on that one, unexpected…..

  11. That was brilliant! Took me completely by surprise. And given his obvious skill at multitasking (flying the helicopter whilst pushing her out the door), she clearly screwed up bad.

  12. ouch! that was good!! leaves one with bunch of emotions… all unexpected! loved it.

  15. Sorry it took me so long to comment on yours, but for me at least it was worth the wait. We just get a bit of the surface of these characters, and glimpse below the surface, but I definitely want to read more
